When is the volunteer staff application deadline?

The Volunteer Staff deadline is May 15th, or sooner if all positions fill prior to the deadline.

How old must I be to volunteer?

You need to be 14 by the time the festival starts.

My sister is 12, can she hang out with us while we serve?

For the safety of the volunteer, the young person, and our attendees, we do not allow persons under 14 to serve on staff. We also can’t allow non-volunteers to ‘hang out’ with those who are working. For young ones, our suggestion would be to serve different shifts with someone you trust (other parent, friend, older sibling), so they are with your child if you desire to serve. If you can’t find someone, please do not sign up.

What kind of identification is required at check-in?

You must provide a valid, government-issued photo ID if you are 18 or older. If you are 17 and under, a school ID or another ID with your photo on it will work, provided your parent or guardian accompanies you to check-in.

Do you provide food, sleeping accommodations and/or transportation for volunteers?

We do not.  Volunteers are responsible for their own transportation to and from the festival, as well as their own food, tent, and sleeping equipment. There are some food vendors on-site during the festival if you don’t desire to make/bring your own food.  Costs for these vendors is typical to what you would find at a State Fair. Some find it less expensive to bring and prepare their own food.  For staple goods, we also have a small grocery store onsite.  The food vendors also provide some allergy options such vegan, gluten free and dairy free.

What day must I arrive?

If you are a full-time volunteer you are required to enter the festival on Monday evening between 6 and 10 PM, or at least 6 hours before your first shift on Tuesday.  This gives you time to check-in, set up camp, and be ready to serve.  If you are a part-time volunteer, please arrive at least 6 hours before your first shift is scheduled.

I’d like to serve with a friend. How do we indicate that?

On the confirmation step of the application, you will see a box in which you can type final comments. Put your request in that box. We cannot guarantee but work hard to try to make those requests happen!

Can I just help with setup?

Setup is by invitation and is open only to people who are volunteering during the festival.

I’m leading a group of people. How can we all sign up to serve as a group?

We don’t have a group sign-up option. Please have each person submit their own application.

What’s the difference between serving full time vs. part time, and what is the cost?

Full-Time Staff Volunteer will serve one 4.5 hour shift each day (approx), starting the Tuesday before the festival and ending Saturday (5 consecutive days). In return for serving as a Full-Time Staff Volunteer, your ticket price is discounted and you pay only $29 for the entire event.

Part-Time Staff Volunteer will serve one 4.5 hour shift each day they attend the festival (approx), with a minimum of three days. If you plan on arriving Wednesday, you will need to serve a shift that day or night. Thursday is the latest day you may arrive to start serving.  With this option, you cannot mix and match days.  They need to be consecutive, starting no later than Thursday. In return for serving as a Part-Time Staff Volunteer, your ticket price is discounted and you pay only $65 for the entire event.
